A Fleeting Moment, Made Eternal

This work captures a fleeting moment and turns it into ceramic form, stretching a vanishing sensation into a sense of eternity.

It was inspired by the brief yet powerful moment of meeting a whale’s tail above the sea, where waves and light cross for only an instant. Flowing organic curves, pierced openings and directional textures evoke the depth and movement of the ocean, and each vase holds a different fragment of that moment.

The surfaces are coloured with ottchil, traditional Korean lacquer, which gives a subtle lustre and tones that shift with the light — a sense of time soaked in light.

The eight vases form one continuous flow. The flowers placed in them, blooming and fading, become fleeting presences themselves, completing a space where the momentary and the eternal coexist.
